Human Essence

A speculative installation exploring the relationship between human presence, breathing, heartbeat, memory, and technological transformation.

Type
Speculative installation
Themes
Speculative Design, Physical Products

Context

Breathing and heartbeat are among the most constant signs that a person is present — and among the least noticed.

Human Essence is a speculative installation that uses these signals as material, asking what happens to presence and memory when technology translates the body into something else.

The central question

If a machine could hold your breath, what part of you would it be holding?
